Planning Department
The Planning Department is primarily responsible for land use planning and development review within the Veneta urban growth boundary (UGB). The department is also responsible for zoning code enforcement, economic development, and environmental quality. The department processes many kinds of land-use applications from home occupations to subdivisions. Some applications are handled administratively; others require review and decision by the Planning Commission, which is a group comprised of five volunteers appointed by City Council. The City's Comprehensive Plan, Land Development Ordinance and Land Division Ordinance provide the guidelines and criteria upon which City Planners and the Commissioners base their decisions.
